Biography

Born in Osceola Nebraska, Maj Charles Hansen earned a Bachelors of Science in Agriculture from Oregon State College. He was the pilot of the B-29 Superfortress “The First Ship” in which Roy Porter, NBC Correspondent, rode in the first attack on Japan. His plane was nicknamed that at it was the first B-29 to be flown by it’s own crew overseas from the US, it was also the first to fly the span between India and China and was the first to be attacked by the Japanese fighter planes during that span. Maj Charles Hansen was killed in China, he was survived by his wife, son, mother and sister.
