Fanger, Archie Frank

Born in Beadle, South Dakota, Pvt Fanger he earned a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1943 and a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers on campus, and enlisted that july in Portland. He was sent overseas serving with the  6th Armoured Infantry Battalion, 1st Armoured Division Company B in Feb of 1944 arriving in Africa in the beginning of Mar. On Apr 21 1944 he was wounded while serving in the Anzio Beachhead area and received the Purple Heart. In May he returned to his Mortar Squad being killed shortly thereafter during the drive on Rome.

Clarke, Robert Wayne

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania he spent most of his youth living in Oregon. He went to Oregon State University for two years before transferring to Eastern Oregon College in his junior year, and joined the Marine Corps in Jan 1968. While serving with Delta Company, !st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment 1st Marine Division PFC Robert Clark’s platoon was dropped into a hot landing zone to help pull out Recon Team 4, while assaulting North Vietnamese Army gun positions Robert was killed by a grenade in Quang Tri, Vietnam. He was survived by his parents, a brother and a sister.
