Born in Glendale, California, Pvt Porter studied Forestry while attending Oregon State College. While serving with the Army’s 86th Infantry, 10th Mountain Division he caught a fatal case of pneumonia while on Camp Hale, Colorado. He was survived by his parents and sister.
Born in Mapleton, Oregon, Pvt Paeschke attended Oregon Agricultural College for commerce in 1914 as a first year secondary student and a Winter Short Course student in 1915 Afterwards he went to Montana working on a mining dredge from 1916 to 1917 when he entered the service. While serving with the Army’s Company F, 16th Infantry, 41st Division, he died from wounds received in the trenches in France. He was survived by his father and eight siblings.
