Sgt Steele enlisted 20 Aug 1943 in Portland, Oregon and served in the 405 Infantry 102nd Division. Sgt. Steele went missing on February 23rd 1945, and was later listed as KIA.

Born in Ohio, Sgt Knouff studied Mining at Oregon Agricultural College. While serving with the Army’s 1st Gas Regiment, Sgt Knouff was killed in France. He was survived by his wife, daughter, parents and three siblings.
Born in Baker, Oregon Sgt Holcomb is the only student on this list to have earned the Congressional Medal of Honor. His citation is listed below. While serving with the Company D, 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division he was killed in Phuoc Long, Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. The Holcomb Park in Richland Oregon is named after him and he has a plaque in the Oregon section of the MOH Grove at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. He was survived by his parents and brother.

JOHN NOBLE HOLCOMB
Born in Clark, Washington Sgt Harrison spent one year at Oregon State College studying engineering. He entered into the Army on 16 Jun 1942 out of Portland, Oregon. While serving with the 17th Engineers Battalion 2nd Armoured Division he was killed in Holland. He was survived by his wife, parents and three siblings.
Sgt. Golsh served in Army company A, 502nd infantry, 2nd Battalion, 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam. While serving in the Thua Thien-Hue, Vietnam his base was attacked at night. During the attack Sgt. Golsh suffered multiple fragmentation wounds, and sucummed to them on 21st March, 1970.
