Young, Gregory Dean

Maj. Young was born in St. Helen, Oregon. He earned a degree in Civil Engineering and a Minor in Aerospace Studies while attending Oregon State University. While serving with the 142 Fighter Wing, he flew an F-15 Eagle during a dogfight practice with Texas Marine Corps Reserve pilots when he crashed over the Pacific Ocean. The final report stated that he had suffered from spatial distortion, which caused him not to know his altitude, attitude, or airspeed, as a result he flew his aircraft into the ocean. His name can be found on the Remembrance Rug by Symbol #5110.

Stanley, Robert William

Capt. Stanley enlisted as a pilot in the Air Force on 30 September 1964. Capt. Stanley was the pilot of a McDonnell Douglas Phantom II Fighter (F-4C), that went missing during operations in Quang Nam, Vietnam. Capt. Stanley was transferred to the deceased roll in 1973 without consultation of the family and without verification of death. His aircraft crash was identified around 1999 and the crews remains were stored in Hawaii for identification.

Smith, Harding Eugene Sr.

Among the six MIA Vietnam War servicemen whose remains were recently recovered is the father of a University of California, San Diego Professor, who will attend his funeral this week. What happened to Air Force Colonel Harding Smith of San Jose, California -- a veteran of World War II and Korea -- has taken 38 years to find out. Now, however, Smith and five other servicemen have been found and identified. In 1966, Harding Smith and his crew were aboard an AC-47 gunship, flying a nighttime mission over southern Laos.

Lowry, Tyrrell Gordon

Born in Oregon, Capt Lowry was a member of the Oregon State College Varsity track team, and earned a Bachelors of Science in Science in 1955. While serving with the 441st Bomber Squadron, he was killed when the B-52F Stratofortress he was a radar-operator on crashed into another B-52F over the south China Sea. The planes were part of a force en route to  target, a Viet Cong installation 28 miles north of Saigon, in South Vietnam. His body was never recovered. He was survived by his wife, three daughters, parents and sister.

Kinkade, William Louis

Born in Grants Pass, Oregon, Capt Kinkade was apart or the Air Force ROTC program here at Oregon State University graduating in 1967 with  bachelor’s of Science in Science. While serving with the Air Force’s 555th Tactical Fighter Squadron on 1 Sep 1968, Capt. Jack Wilson, aircraft commander and then 1st Lt. William L. 'Bill' Kinkade, pilot comprised the crew of an F4D, call sign 'Carter 02,' that departed Udorn Airbase as the #2 aircraft in a flight of two.

Erickson, Lee Eldon

Born in Oregon City, Oregon SSgt Lee Erickson studied agriculture while attending Oregon State College. While serving with the 98th Bomb Wing 45th Bomb Group, he was a crew member on the B-29A "Shady Lady"(#44-86371) Superfortress Bomber. On May 7, 1951, while on a bombing mission over Pyongyang, North Korea, his aircraft was hit by anti-aircraft fire and lost a wing. Several parachutes were seen leaving the plane. SSgt Erickson was listed as Missing in Action and was presumed dead on January 31, 1954. He was survived by his wife, his son and daughter, parents, and three brothers.
