Erickson, Lee Eldon

Born in Oregon City, Oregon SSgt Lee Erickson studied agriculture while attending Oregon State College. While serving with the 98th Bomb Wing 45th Bomb Group, he was a crew member on the B-29A "Shady Lady"(#44-86371) Superfortress Bomber. On May 7, 1951, while on a bombing mission over Pyongyang, North Korea, his aircraft was hit by anti-aircraft fire and lost a wing. Several parachutes were seen leaving the plane. SSgt Erickson was listed as Missing in Action and was presumed dead on January 31, 1954. He was survived by his wife, his son and daughter, parents, and three brothers.

Bartholdi, Cyril Sylvester

Major Bartholdi was company commander of C company, 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry, in the 2nd Infantry Division during the Korean War. Bartholdi served in both WWII and the Korean War, commanding the F company, 9th infantry regiment during WWII. Major Bartholdi was taken prisoner on the evening of August 31st 1950, when his unit, stationed by Naktong River, was overrun by North Korean forces. Major Bartholdi was captured, tortured, and the executed on September 26th 1950, along with 43 American prisoners in the "Taejon Massacre."
