Semon, Charles Henry
He died during the 1944 D-Day invasion of Normandy when his unit jumped inland of the Utah Beach Sector. His regimental commander revealed that he had drowned, his body was recovered and buried in his parachute.

He was hit by Japanese artillery while having a meeting with other officers in a hole dug into a beach.

Medically separated on the second of December 1941, he insisted on re-entering service the day after the attack on Pearl Harbor, six days after his separation, and would not take no for an answer. He died in World War II in France.
