Lt Com. Ammon was born in Belleville, Illinois, he enlisted into the Navy in 1988 and went through the enlisted to officer program at Oregon State University receiving a Bachelors in Nuclear Engineering, becoming a certified reactor operator for OSU’s TRIGA reactor. He died of wounds from an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) while serving in the Aband District in Afghanistan, he is survived by his wife and 2 kids.
