Cpl. Bond was a member of Corvallis national guard company K. Company K was not popular during the early 1900s, but the men of the company faithfully practiced every week. When the U.S. entered WWI, company K was sent to Europe on March 30,1917. In Europe company K was broken up and sent to other units all over the American front. Cpl. Bond died of injuries from combat while fighting in France. He was survived by his parents and sister.
