Biography

Born in Salem, Oregon 1st Lt Imlah earned a Bachelor of Science in Business. While serving in Vietnam with the Marine Corps Reserve Company D, 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division he earned the Bronze Star with Combat “V” for heroic achievement on 15 Feb 1968. In the month of August, the 1st Battalion participated in Operation MAMELUKE THRUST in the southern part of Dai Loc and northern part of Duc Duc Districts of Quang Nam Province.

On August 29, a Company D platoon while searching for the enemy through the Dai Khuong village complex were ambushed and became engaged in a vicious fire fight with the Viet Cong. Artillery and airstrikes pounded the enemy positions with the battle lasting until darkness fell. Twelve men were killed in the fire fights and many were wounded, one of whom would later die of his wounds. One of the casualties was 1st Lt Imlah who was killed in the action by hostile rife fire.he was killed in Quang Nam, Vietnam. He was survived by his wife.
