Lewis, Floyd Samuel

Born in Reynolds, Illinois, Capt Lewis earned a bachelors of Science in Agriculture fro Oregon Agricultural College in 1933. While serving with the Army Air Corps 17th Air Base Squadron 118 Air Service Group he went missing over his normal flight route around Hawaii. He was survived by his wife and daughter, his parent, and four siblings.

Kirk, Weldon Head

Born in Payette, Idaho Capt Kirk graduated with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Vocational Education from Oregon Agricultural College. While serving with the Army’s 20th Air Base Group Headquarter Squadron he was captured by the Japanese.

Kinkade, William Louis

Born in Grants Pass, Oregon, Capt Kinkade was apart or the Air Force ROTC program here at Oregon State University graduating in 1967 with  bachelor’s of Science in Science. While serving with the Air Force’s 555th Tactical Fighter Squadron on 1 Sep 1968, Capt. Jack Wilson, aircraft commander and then 1st Lt. William L. 'Bill' Kinkade, pilot comprised the crew of an F4D, call sign 'Carter 02,' that departed Udorn Airbase as the #2 aircraft in a flight of two.

House, John Alexander

Born in New York, New York Capt House earned a Bachelor of Science in Forestry through Oregon State University. While serving with HMM-265 Marine Air Group-16, transporting Recon Team Striker through Thua Thien Province, Vietnam, his CH-46 helicopter was shot down. All five Recon Marines and Capt House were killed. His remains were recovered 25 June 2012.  He was survived by his wife, parents, and his brother.

Hertz, Howard Davis

Born in Portland Oregon, Capt Hertz earned a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1935 through Oregon Agricultural College. He entered the service 1 Oct 1940. While serving in Fort Knox, Kentucky he fell ill and died, the autopsy came back with cause of death being attributed to Severe Yellow Atrophy of the liver. He was survived by his wife, son and daughter, his parents and five siblings.

Hendry, Roderick Kirkland

Born in Oregon, Capt Hendry earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Forestry while attending Oregon State College. While serving with the 1st Battalion 21st Field Artillery Regiment 21st Division he became a prisoner of the Japanese after the fall of Bataan in Jul 1942, and was then forced into the Bataan Death March. On 24 Oct 1944 the Arisan Maru (transporting 1,781 Prisoners of war including Capt Hendry) was torpedoed by an American Submarine and sank off the coast of China. All of the POW’s escaped the sinking Hell Ship but the Japanese refused to rescue them.

Harr, Gerry Arthur

Born in Multnomah, Oregon he commissioned as an officer out of the Oregon State University ROTC program earning a Bachelors of Science in Agriculture in 1967. During his first tour in Vietnam he earned the Distinguished Service Cross while serving with the Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 16th Infantry, 3d Brigade, 1st Infantry Division on 7 Apr 1968 as a platoon leader during a reconnaissance-in-force operation. Upon entering a hostile base came his team came under heavy fire, exposing himself to a “hail of bullets to fire an antitank weapon at a key bunker.

Hampshire, John Frederick Jr.

Born in Grants Pass, Oregon Capt Hampshire studied Chemical Engineering while attending Oregon State College. While serving with the Army Air Forces 75th Fighter Squadron, 23rd Fighter Group he became the top Ace FIghter in the China and Burma theater. On 2 May 1943 he and several others from his unit entered into another dog fight, where he shot down two Ki-43 Oscars bringing his total confirmed aircraft shot down to 13.
