Lt (j.G.) Ashcraft was born in Dufur, Oregon, he signed the draft on 16 Oct 1940 and was called to service in Oct 1942. He was killed in a training accident while serving as a flying instructor in Pensacola, Florida. He was the first of three sons his parents lost to the war. The other two were Lt Kent Ashcraft (killed in Dec 1943) and SSgt Leland (killed in Feb 1944) both were students of OSC, all three are on this list. He was survived by his two brothers and his parents.
