Biography
Sgt. Barber was the tail gunner of B-17G #43-38572 operating in the 360th bomber squadron, 303rd bombardment group, 8th Air force. During bombing operations in Germany, #43-38572's wing was set on fire by enemy fighters. #43-38572 went down in Schladen, German just south of Brunswick. The entire crew was lost in the crash.
