Born in Telocaset, Oregon 1st Lt Haller was an only child. He studied Chemical Engineering while attending Oregon State College, enlisting on 19 Mar 1943. While serving with the Army Air Force 502nd Bomb Group, 402nd Bomber Squadron 20th Air Force, he was one of ten airmen killed when his B-29 Superfortress #44-83899 that he was a radar navigator on crashed, five miles northeast of Isley Field, on Saipan Island. He was survived by his parents.
