Biography

Born in Benton Oregon, Pvt Kelsay attended OSU when it was originally called Corvallis College. There was only one course of study and students were only separated by “State Students” and “All Other Departments”. He volunteered to serve in the Spanish American War and was put into a volunteer infantry division. Pvt Kelsay was killed while serving with Company D, 2nd Oregon Infantry in Manilla, Philippines from laryngitis. He was the second gold star member of OSU, and was survived by his mother and sister.
