DeLapp, Louis Austin

"Louis served as a Captain and Pilot on a B-25 (#unknown), 490th Bomber Squadron, 341st Bomber Group, Medium, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Deschutes County, Oregon prior to the war.

Louis was declared "Missing In Action" when his B-25, along with 8 other B-25's, were returning from a mission that had completed bombing the Thazi Rail Road junction when the group was attacked by an ME-109 and ten, or more Zeros. They were shot down in this attack.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.

Crowell, Weymouth Jr.

Born in Los Angeles, California Capt Crowell joined the service on 12 Mar 1942 out of Portland. He served with the 12th Air Force, 57th Bombardment Wing, 321st Bombardment Group, 448th Bombardment Squadron. While holding the position of Flight Leader (pilot of the lead aircraft for the 27 plane mission), his aircraft B-25 Mitchell Bunno # 42-64655 was hit by Anti Aircraft fire in the Navigator’s compartment as they reached the target in Italy and the tail of the aircraft was shot off.
