Clinton, Lealand Jack

Born in Myrtle Point, Oregon, Lt (J.G.) Leland Clinton signed the draft on 16 Oct 1940 while attending Oregon State College, earning a Bachelors of Science in Forestry in 1941, and joined the Navy Reserves on 31 Mar 1943. He went missing while serving aboard the USS Indianapolis in the Philippine Sea. He was survived by his wife, parents, and his sister.

Brown, Donald Raymond

A officer of the USS Wahoo (SS-238) a Gato class submarine. On October 11th 1943 the submarine was hit while attempting to leave the La Perouse Strait between Russia and Japan. Japanese anti-submarine aircraft saw it and sank it killing all on board. The USS Wahoo was declared overdue on December 2, 1943 and was confirmed destroyed on December 6th. The search for the Wahoo started in 1995 and on Oct 31, 2006 the location of the Wahoo wreckage was found. On Oct 11th, 2007 a remembrance ceremony was held by the navy at this location.

Ashcraft, Dean Bruner

Lt (j.G.) Ashcraft was born in Dufur, Oregon, he signed the draft on 16 Oct 1940 and was called to service in Oct 1942. He was killed in a training accident while serving as a flying instructor in Pensacola, Florida. He was the first of three sons his parents lost to the war. The other two were Lt Kent Ashcraft (killed in Dec 1943) and SSgt Leland (killed in Feb 1944) both were students of OSC, all three are on this list. He was survived by his two brothers and his parents.

Alexander, Jerry Raymond

Lt (J.G.) Alexander was killed when he was washed overboard from the USS Picuda submarine while taking charge of emergency repairs near Iceland. He was survived by his parents, step mother, three sisters and a brother. While attending Oregon State University he was a member of the Navy Drill Team and the Taffrail Navy Glee Club, he graduated in 1965 with a Bachelors in General Science.
