SSgt Ashcraft was born in Ashland, Oregon, he signed the draft on 16 Oct 1940 and was called to service on 21 Feb 1941 in Portland. He was killed in Italy while serving with the 15th Infantry 3rd Division. He was the third and last son his parents lost to the war. The other two were Lt Dean (killed in Jun 1943) and Lt Kent Ashcraft (killed in Dec 1943) both were students of OSC, all three are on this list. He was survived by his parents.
